The month of October is National Work Safe Month as well as World Mental Health Day. These are great campaigns to bring to our attention that we are not alone in what we are dealing with and that our employers are to provide a safe work place and environment.

As an ambassador to the Hospitality Industry, Food and Beverage Trainer just purchased these shirts from The Burnt Chef Project.

The Burnt Chef F**K Stigma T-Shirt

The Burnt Chef Project was launched in May 2019. It was initially set to with the sole intention of eradicating mental health stigma within hospitality.

The mental health stigma stems from the long antisocial hours, tough environmental conditions and pressures to perform are just some of the issues that hospitality professionals are fighting against on a daily basis. (The Burnt Out Chef 2019. Accessed October 2020)

Another great campaign within the hospitality industry is the Pilot Light. The Pilot Light Campaign was set up by chefs Andrew Clarke and Doug Sanham, with the aim to open up the dialogue about mental health within the hospitality industry. Since then, they have been using their experiences and voices to help others find theirs. (The Pilot Light Campaign 2016. Accessed October 2020)

So lets stand together and make our voices heard. Stop the wage theft, stop the unpaid hours, stop exploiting our industry professionals.

Hospitality workers need work, life balance.
